Cracked Wheat and Cottage Cheese Burger Patties/Dalia and Paneer Veggie Burger Patties

The other day when I was racking my brains thinking for a healthy alternative for a burger patty and only beetroots and carrots peeked from the vegetable tray in the fridge, this delicious and healthy recipe was born.I was little apprehensive about adding the Cracked wheat or Dalia, so added some Paneer or Cottage Cheese to give body to the patty. Had watched a Tarla Dalal show on TV years back where she had used Dalia and Paneer to make cutlets to snack on. The grated Beetroot and Carrots in it made it more healthier for my ever fussy kids and they happily munched on the crunchy patties camouflaged in burger buns. Sometimes Ignorance is sheer bliss!

I try my level best to serve healthy stuff to my family and mentally rehearse “Healthy” everytime there is an inclination for unhealthy junk food. Whole wheat burger buns are always a healthier option for a weekend burgers and fries brunch or dinner. I use Olive oil Mayonnaise with lots of grated veggies as a dressing for the burger with tomato and mustard sauces.

These crunchy veggie patties can be used not only in burgers but also in sandwiches, wraps, rolls or in pita breads with chutneys, hummus, salsa and different sauces as dressings or can be shallow fried into smaller cutlets and served as appetiser or snacks for parties. A very healthy and tasty lunchbox option for the kids too. Play with different combinations and enjoy yours. Cheers to healthy food!!

Instructions
  1. Wash the Broken wheat or Dalia well, blanch it in 1 Cup of hot water for nearly 5 minutes , strain.
  2. Now add everything with the Dalia except bread crumbs and oil in a mixing bowl and mix well.
  3. Divide the mixture equally according to the size of the Patties you want and shape them accordingly with your palms.
  4. Coat them with the toasted bread crumbs ,this helps the patties to be fried without cracking or breaking.
  5. Shallow fry the patties in a pan till crisp and done on both sides.
